This is the Axial .21RR-1 Off Road Engine. This is Axial's first .21/3.47cc nitro engine to complement the reputable RR Series of ABC Designed Engines designed for the racing enthusiast, from buggy basher to weekend race warrior. Starting with looks alone, this engine stands out especially with the tech looking, "murdered out" - cross drilled head and crankcase.

This is not just a cool looking engine, nor is it "just" an addition to the Axial RR Performance Series of engines. The Axial 21RR-1 Engine has vast improvements with such features as a rock solid 2-needle carburetor, balanced crankshaft, 7-port piston cylinder sleeve and all new designed crankcase with emphasis on strength and weight reduction.

The Axial 21RR-1 carburetor has a stealthy blacked out look, built with a simplistic 2-needle design for ease of use. Color coded aluminum venturi's in 6.5mm, 7.0mm and 8.0mm increments are included to use in conjunction with the stock carburetor [9.0mm inlet] allowing for a wide range of airflow velocity tuning adjustments. Fully adjustable fuel valves and carb-linkage allow this carburetor to work on various engine applications. Another "performance-look" feature is the visual markings on the carburetor indicating 1/16th increments allowing for an "easy to adjust" air-fuel needle.

The heart of engine performance is in the piston cylinder sleeve. Axial delivers the highest level of quality through the ABC Engine Design with brass cylinder sleeve construction that is dimensionally stable during heat cycle process aided by chrome plating for both durability and precise compression. The brass cylinder sleeve houses a CAD designed CNC precision cut 7-port design with performance and torque in mind. The aluminum piston has a very high content level of silica for high-performance stability, of which give the piston its characteristically textured look.

While the piston and sleeve may be the heart of an engine, the crank takes the vertical power from the piston and transfers that "life" in the horizontal direction to the wheels. The Axial 21RR-1 crankshaft is precision machined and counterbalanced with brass slugs to provide a smoother running engine, reducing vibration and delivering more "usable" power. The intake portion of the crankshaft uses port flow epoxy for a tuned flow of air and gas into the piston for the maximum performance in the smoothest controlled manor.

While power-to-weight ratio is the lifeblood of performance, Axial has painstakingly redesigned a precision machined crankcase to maintain strength and durability while going on a diet through strategic case design. With its overall performance in mind, the fins that are located around the cylinder wall and cylinder head or heat sink have been cross-drilled to reduce top end weight, while adding a bit of bling. The cross drilling process also gives the Axial 21RR-1 engine additional surface area which aids in cooling and reduces heat soak, the culprit of engine performance degradation.

Axial engines are dyno tested to ensure the highest level of performance possible. Axial uses the highest quality materials and the latest CAD and CNC techniques to set the maximum level of quality possible at roughly half the cost. The Axial 21RR-1 engine is aimed to provide the perfect balance between performance and price to deliver the top overall value for the enthusiast that likes to run hard and spend little. If you are looking for "the best bang for the buck nitro engine" the Axial 21RR-1 is for you!

Axial .21RR-1 Off Road Engine (Black)
I have two, one in my losi 8t 2.0 and one in my DNX408 with the EFRA 2090 exhaust, idled two tanks of 30% nitro with the 8mm venturi then two tanks at 5% acceleration, 2 at 50, two at 90 then changed to the 7.0mm venturi and leaned it out, responds well and absolutely fly's, I put the 6.5mm venturi in and it is great on fuel responds well idles good easy to start and tune has more than enough power and the rebuild kits are cheap as, I would defiantly buy buy them again. The earlier story is a bit of a worry I guess, but for me no dramas.

Axial .21RR-1 Off Road Engine (Black)
Ok guys here is the scoop I bought this thing ran about 1/2 gallon on the bench with added oil to fuel mix (25% Byron) about 2 oz. per 1/2 gallon. Once I put it in my buggy began to lean top end down I had to fatten bottom end up. Oh yes O'Donnell 99 plug. Temps reaching 260 f. After I had ran about another quart to quart an a half through engine. I had to change plug at this time. After while on the starter box I had rib the motor twice I heard not so sweet sound of something gone wrong. Pulled motor apart. Found con-rod on crank side to have spun bushing from rod end. I contacted Axial for warranty immediately with no questions ask I received a new piston, sleeve and con-rod after two weeks on delivery. I change it all out this time I ran 1 gallon through this thing on the bench as instructed by Axial support team. Ones again install it in my buggy ran out to track ware there was a race going to happen. Enter the race I had this engine tune nice and fat. After the first 2 qualifiers not to bad. I had install 1.0 clutch springs to keep engine up. I wanted to tune down a little to get a little more power. Yes temp during this time ran about 266 f. I fouled out two plugs one right after the other O'Donnell 99. Well I was not able to do main because I didn't have my other engine with me had forgot it. Got it home took it apart found one of the two counter weights had come loose and had staid out brushing across the con-rod as it went by. Contacted warranty for Axial they denied me of any. I recommend you think before purchasing this engine. At $200.00 +'s is not worth the time. Save your money and purchase something with better reputation then this
