This is the DuraTrax Onyx 230 AC/DC Advanced Charger w/LCD display. The Onyx 230 charger is great for a wide variety of applications! Wide ranges of output current (up to 7 amps!) and output voltage make it equally useful for 1/32 scale micros and 1/8 scale electrics, plus nitro receiver packs and transmitter packs. In addition to NiCd and NiMH batteries, it can also charge LiPo cells and LiFe packs (such as A123), which is perfect for the latest battery technologies. AC/DC flexibility, plus the advanced reversed LCD with backlight – previously only found in top-end racing chargers – is great for use indoors or outdoors, daytime or night. The Onyx 230’s tremendous flexibility, small size and weight, and high power give racers yet another advantage on race day!

Features
  • A super-small, lightweight built-in AC power supply is great for cramped pit spaces, and easy portability.
  • Fully adjustable charge currents from 100mA to 7 amps, with an auto-trickle function for NiCd and NiMH packs.
  • A precise constant-current / constant-voltage charge algorithm safely fills lithium-polymer (LiPo), lithium-ion (Li-Ion), or lithium ferrite-phosphate (LiFe) batteries!
  • A custom peak detection system loads NiCd and NiMH batteries full of power. Peak sensitivity can be adjusted to tailor the charger to the battery.
  • Pushbutton controls and audible tones make for easy set-up and control.
  • Configure up to 10 batteries in memory for instant, easy recall and set-up.
  • A built-in cooling fan keeps components cool and extends life of charger.
  • A backup safety timer automatically stops charge to prevent accidental battery overcharge.
  • Large alligator clips on the DC input easily connect to most 12V DC power sources.
  • Banana jacks on the output allow for connection with many commonly found charge adapters. An adapter with standard plug is included.

DuraTrax Onyx 230 AC/DC Advanced Charger w/LCD Display
I purchased my Onyx 230 on 2/20/10 and just had to send it back (1/25/11) because the internal power supply went bad. They do have a 5 year warranty which is good but they charge you to ship it to them which I undersatnd. What I dont understand is why I have to pay to have it shipped back when it was fully covered by the warranty!By the way, they neglected to tell me I would have to pay for return shipping when I called them to get the details of how their warranty plan works. Because they made a less than stellar product I have to pay for return shipping, unexceptable. I have had a ton of warranty work done thru other companies and if it was under warranty you DONT pay return shipping. I would recommend buying something in the $120-$140 price range because the Onyx 230 does not have a balancer. So you spend $80 on the charger and another $35-$45 dollars on a external balancer. Once mine comes back ETA 2/10/11 I will sell it and buy another charger that works and has better warranty/customer service. Thus far I have paid almost half the purchase price in shipping to have it repaired! I give DuraTrax and their warrnty service company they use (Hobby Services) a big fat F+. Dont waste you money on it.

DuraTrax Onyx 230 AC/DC Advanced Charger w/LCD Display
This is a very good charger, however it lacks the ability to parallel charge two 2S lipos, and for the price you can find units that are cheaper and will do that.

DuraTrax Onyx 230 AC/DC Advanced Charger w/LCD Display
Upgraded from a Onyx 220 when i switched to lipo and this charger is perfect. Doesn't balance lipo's but combine this w/ a Blinky LiPo Battery Balancer and your good to go!

DuraTrax Onyx 230 AC/DC Advanced Charger w/LCD Display
Easy to use and very compact with its built in power supply. As previously stated, the memory feature with 10 profiles is great. You can program it with each type of battery you have, and not worry about adjustments in the future. Especially useful when using lipo's so that you don't have to worry about entering the wrong info once you've already done it. Very satisfied...

Has done everything I have needed it to do and the memory feature rocks. I am stepping up from a superbrain so this is definately a huge improvement.
